Program Welcome

The PreMed and PreHealth Advising Program is a specialized advising unit within The Office of the Provost at Northeastern University, dedicated to supporting students and alumni pursuing careers in the health professions.

Our team supports more than 3,000 active students and alumni across Northeastern’s global campus network and works with more than 500 health professions applicants each year. Students who engage with our program achieve acceptance rates that are approximately twice the national average.

Our advising model is individualized, comprehensive, and lifelong. Students can begin working with a professional PreMed and PreHealth Advisor as early as their first year at Northeastern, receiving personalized guidance as they explore health professions, plan prerequisite coursework, develop clinical and experiential preparation, and ultimately navigate the application and interview process. Our support does not end at graduation—Northeastern alumni continue to have access to our advising services as they prepare for and apply to health professional programs.

Our full-time advising staff is composed entirely of professional prehealth advisors, all of whom are members of the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP). This specialized expertise allows us to provide current, profession-specific guidance throughout each stage of the prehealth pathway.

We advise Northeastern University undergraduate degree-seeking students and alumni pursuing medical (MD and DO), dental, physician assistant, podiatric medicine, optometry, and veterinary medicine programs, as well as eligible students and alumni of Northeastern University’s Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medical Certificate Program.

The mission of the PreMed and PreHealth Advising Program at Northeastern University is to provide support services for current students and alumni across our global network who are seeking careers as future physicians, physician assistants, dentists, podiatrists, optometrists, and veterinarians. Our professional pre-health advising team is equipped to support students through the exploration, preparation, application, and decision-making process of matriculation to a health professional graduate program. Through individualized and cohort-based advising, innovative programming, emphasis on experiential learning, and collaboration with campus and community partners, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive pre-health learning community and empowering applicants to reach their fullest potential.
