Application Readiness Program

Applicants can begin preparing for a successful application cycle by enrolling in the PreMed and PreHealth Advising Application Readiness Program during their designated application year.

This structured program includes two foundational steps: completing a comprehensive Mock Application—designed to simulate the actual application process and ensure timely registration for your health graduate program’s entrance exam—and scheduling an Application Readiness Meeting (ARM) with your dedicated PreHealth Advisor to assess your preparedness and receive personalized feedback.

Participation in the Application Readiness Program is not only a required component of the Letter Packet process, but also a key opportunity to access a suite of optional, high-impact application support services for all candidates! These supplemental offerings are tailored to help you strengthen your application materials, clarify your personal narrative, and navigate the admissions process with greater confidence and strategic insight.

APPLICATION READINESS Program Process

The Mock Application is for applicants to medical, dental, physician assistant (PA), podiatry, veterinary, and optometry programs only and is available in the Medical Applicant Portal.

The Mock Application allows applicants to assess their readiness for applying to health professional schools by identifying and addressing key components of a competitive application.

Committing to the Mock Application process will allow you to receive valuable feedback to strengthen and enhance your application. This is not your official application, and it will not be submitted to health professional schools. While you may use content from the Mock Application in your actual application, this is a practice exercise designed to be reviewed individually with your PreHealth Advisor. We encourage you to be honest and open in your responses. Our goal is to learn more about your background, journey, and motivations. By exploring your pathway fully, we can help you develop the strongest application strategy possible.

Completing the Mock Application by the stated deadline will enable you to participate in the Northeastern University PreMed and PreHealth Advising Program’s Application Readiness Program and, if applicable, the Letter Packet process.

After completing the Mock Application, applicants will be invited to schedule an Application Readiness Meeting (ARM) with their PreHealth Advisor. This 45-minute meeting provides an opportunity to discuss your Mock Application and plan for the upcoming application cycle. It’s also an excellent time to ask questions about your health graduate program’s centralized application, entrance exams, and other aspects of the application process.

Please be aware that the Mock Application includes several required components and cannot be completed in one sitting. We recommend setting aside multiple 2–3-hour sessions to ensure thorough completion. You can exit the survey at any time and return later from the same computer to finish. Mock Applications that are incomplete or do not follow the guidelines will not be accepted. Candidates who submit an incomplete Mock Application may lose eligibility for the Application Readiness Program and Letter Packet process.

After applicants complete their Mock Application, they will receive a link to schedule an Application Readiness Meeting (ARM) with their individual PreHealth Advisor.

This 45-minute one-on-one appointment is designed to review and provide feedback on the Mock Application, guiding applicants toward developing a competitive application. This is not an interview—rather, it is an open, bilateral dialogue between you and your PreHealth Advisor.

Our goal is to support and cultivate your application strategy, helping you feel more confident and prepared throughout the application process. We approach this work with honesty, realism, and kindness—always aiming to meet you where you are and help you move forward.

This is also a great opportunity to ask questions about your centralized application, entrance exam, and other important elements of the application process.

The application process to a health graduate program doesn’t end once you hit submit.

The months that follow—filled with secondary applications, interview invitations, and communication with admissions offices—can be some of the most stressful and isolating phases of the journey.

To support students during this critical time, individuals who complete all required components of the Application Readiness Program by the designated deadlines and submit their initial application to a health graduate program will receive an email invitation to participate in the Student to Alumni Mentor Program (STAMP).

About the Program

The Student to Alumni Mentor Program (STAMP) is a targeted mentoring initiative designed to support current health professional school applicants through the uncertain post-submission period. STAMP fills a critical gap in traditional pre-health advising by connecting students with alumni who can offer personalized guidance, encouragement, and insight on navigating the later stages of the process—including secondary applications, interviews, and professional outreach to admissions offices.

Whenever possible, mentor-mentee matches are based on shared identity, values, background, and professional interests.
