Opportunity Description

Several opportunities are available for carrying out self contained research projects in Cold Spray Additive Manufacturing Laboratory with Prof. Muftu and Prof. Ozdemir and also in the Ozdemir Research Group.

1. Repair of sharp channels in metal components using cold spray metal additive manufacturing
2. Additively manufacturing supersonic nozzles out of copper using aluminum molds
3. Design of a concept powder feeder for injecting metal powder into spray based additive manufacturing processes
4. Nondestructive testing and evaluation of additively repaired metal components

Undergraduate research assistants will work with graduate research assistants and the advisor to gain hands on experience while understanding scientific approaches. Prerequisites are interest in metal additive manufacturing and 3D printing and willingness and ability to perform hands on experiments, analyze data, and prepare reports.
