McKeon earns the Scoville Peace Fellowship

Northeastern University’s Office of Fellowships is proud to announce that James McKeon has earned the Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship. The Scoville Peace Fellowship provides recent college and grad school graduates with the opportunity to gain a Washington perspective on key issues of peace and security. Fellowship winners spend six to nine months in Washington serving as full-time, salaried junior staff members at the participating organization of their choice. McKeon, who graduated summa cum laude from Northeastern University in 2014, majoring in political science with minors in international affairs and urban studies, elected to work at the Stimson Center.

During his time at Northeastern, McKeon pursued a number of impressive research and experiential opportunities in the United States and abroad. McKeon conducted research on the Arms Trade Treaty while studying abroad at the United Nations Institute for Disarmament Research in Geneva and later completed a dissertation at the London School of Economics as a Hansard Scholar on the Scottish Independence Debate. This dissertation was published by the Ohio State University Journal of Politics and International Affairs. Following his time as a Hansard Scholar, McKeon served as a Parliamentary Researcher for the Scottish National Party Westminster Group at the UK Parliament. McKeon also interned at the White House in the Office of Presidential Correspondence, Analyzed and processed priority gifts, including gifts presented by foreign heads of state, on behalf of the President and the First Family.
