SOURCE 2020 Will Spark a Year of Conversation and Collaboration
At last year’s first ever university-wide Showcase of Opportunities for Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavor–or SOURCE–nearly 150 faculty members shared the latest news about their research and creative projects with over 1,600 enthusiastic undergraduates.
This year, we will build on this success and adapt Career Design’s new online Career Fair tool, NUworks, to host SOURCE in cyberspace on Thursday, October 8, 2020, from 5:30 – 7:30 PM ET.
Students: This is your chance to connect with faculty, learn about their ongoing, groundbreaking research and creative projects, and find out how you can get involved.
To Register for SOURCE:
- Log in to NUworks.
- Go to Events > Career Fairs and select “SOURCE, Showcase of Opportunities for Undergraduate Research and Creative Endeavor.”
- Select the red ATTEND button on the right side of your screen. You will be prompted to complete your Chat Profile (this is the same as your NUworks Profile).
- If you have uploaded multiple resumes to NUworks, select the one you would like employers at SOURCE to see. (You can also upload a resume later.) Click the SAVE button to complete registration.
To Prepare for SOURCE:
- Log in to NUworks and review your profile.
- Be sure to upload a current resume.
- It can be helpful to indicate on your profile if you have work-study or other funds available, especially if you are hoping to find a paid position doing research or creative work.
- Check back periodically to review the continually-updated list of faculty projects that will be represented at SOURCE and make note of ones you’re interested in.
- Practice introducing yourself and your interests, background, and experience to get conversations started during SOURCE.
- Attend the Office of Undergraduate Research & Fellowships’ “Cultivating a Faculty Mentor” workshop to practice having great conversations with professors!
Faculty Projects Represented at SOURCE
Projects are listed with the names and affiliations of their primary point of contact; many projects are collaborations and will have more than one representative at SOURCE.
