Gilman Scholarship for International Study Info Session

The Gilman Scholarship offers up to $5,000 of grant funding to support international study, Dialogues, and international coops for American students, US citizens, who are eager to expand their horizons and Pell Grant eligible. This particular award cycle is for those whose study abroad programs start between December 1, 2021 and October 31, 2022 (it encompasses courses and coops through Spring 2022, Summer 2022, Fall 2022, and Academic Year 2022-2023). Join us for our Gilman Scholarship Study Abroad Info Session to learn more about this great opportunity — and putting together this straight-forward application this fall.

NSF GRFP Information Session
Monday, September 13, 2021, 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM ET, 450 Dodge Hall
With a mission to “ensure the vitality of the human resource base of science and engineering in the United States and reinforces its diversity”, the NSF GRFP  recognizes and supports outstanding graduate students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics disciplines who are pursuing research-based Master’s and doctoral degrees. The five-year fellowship includes three years of financial support including an annual stipend of $34,000 and a cost of education allowance of $12,000 to the institution. 2,500 awards will be made this year. Open to seniors, alums, and graduate students. If you’re applying for graduate school this year, you should put together an application.

Harry TrumanTruman Scholarship for Public Service Info Session #1

The Truman Scholarship recognizes and funds graduate study up to $30,000 for America’s future leaders pursuing public service-related graduate degrees. Junior-level Huskies who are future senators, community organizers, public health workers, and anyone with the commitment and passion to make the world a better place should consider joining us to learn more!
Eligibility: U.S. citizenship, GPA in upper quartile, graduating between December 2022 and August 2023, or a student in their third year of collegiate study who expects to graduate during the 2021-2022 academic year.

Goldwater Scholarship for STEM Research Info Session #1

The Barry Goldwater Scholarship provides funding for outstanding undergraduates in the STEM fields interested in pursuing PhD-level research careers. Sophomores and juniors with excellent academic records and records of achievement in research should apply.

The Critical Language Scholarship fully funds intensive overseas summer study in critical need languages, including Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bangla, Chinese, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Swahili, Turkish, and Urdu. Learn about how to craft a successful application and get your application kickstarted in this info session and workshop. This is a great award that first-year students can apply for!

One does not need to be a Native American or Alaska Native to apply for the Udall Scholarship in the environmental track. In both tracks, the Udall seeks those who are committed to public service and the hard work of consensus building. If you’re interested in people and planet, this is the award for you!
Eligibility: U.S. citizens, permanent residents, or U.S. nationals; currently enrolled sophomores or juniors; GPA of 3.2 or above; applicants in tribal policy or health care, Native American or Alaskan Native.

Carnegie Endowment Junior Fellowship for International Peace Information Session

The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a leading foreign policy think tank, offers one-year fellowships to graduating seniors and recent alums to provide research assistance to scholars—researching books, co-authoring journal articles and policy papers, participating in meetings with high-level officials, contributing to congressional testimony and organizing briefings attended by scholars, journalists and government officials.

Boren Scholarship and Fellowship for Intensive Study Abroad and Public Service Info Session

Studying abroad can be pricey – apply for a scholarship! The Boren Scholarship provide up to $25,000 to U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests and underrepresented in study abroad, including Africa, Asia, Central & Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, and the Middle East. The Boren Fellowship provides similar funding for graduate students.

NSF Research Experiences for Undergraduates

The National Science Foundation’s Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) program offers students the chance to contribute meaningfully to NSF-funded research projects while building relationships with mentors and peers. REUs occur during the summer, happen all over the US (and abroad), and provide participants with a generous stipend. They often assist with travel and housing, as well. REUs are a fantastic chance to build your research profile and connect with a mentor you might not otherwise have had the chance to meet. Learn how to find great REUs and put together strong applications.
