The Peer Tutoring Program employs current undergraduate Northeastern University students based on their academic achievement, expertise, and depth of knowledge in subject(s) which they plan to tutor.

Students interested in this position must meet the following criteria:

  • Maintain an overall GPA of a 3.0 or higher
  • Earn an A or A- as a final grade in course(s) taken at NU that you plan to tutor
  • Demonstrate mastery in subject(s) planning to tutor
  • Have good organizational and time management skills
  • Be able to balance academics and work
  • Have great communication skills
  • Be able to engage tutees with the learning process
  • Have an interest working one-on-one or in small groups with peers
  • Demonstrate a growth mindset
  • Are responsible and dependable
  • Attend tutor training sessions and demonstrate interest in pursuing CRLA Certification
  • Commit a minimum of 6 hours per week Monday through Friday from 9AM-5:30PM in the fall, and 9AM-5PM in the Summer
  • Become a leader and a role model for other students in your academic community
  • Receive strong recommendations from Faculty (required after the interview)
  • Fill out a Tutor Application
