Research Support Opportunities

The Project-Based Exploration for the Advancement of Knowledge (PEAK) Experiences Awards

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships offers the PEAK Experiences Awards as a developmental framework for supporting undergraduate research and creative endeavors. This new framework offers supports for all types of learners as they grow in understanding and engagement throughout their time at Northeastern.

The application form, eligibility requirements, and criteria can be found on the Office of Undergraduate Research and Fellowships website.

Applying for Prestigious Scholarships

Given their academic excellence and wealth of experiences in service and research/creative endeavors performed locally and globally, University Honors students are very well positioned to compete for prestigious national and international scholarships and fellowships. Many of these awards work to frame the undergraduate experience within an international context, opening doors to sponsored travel and study abroad—or to the most prestigious graduate programs in the world.

University Honors students have an outstanding track record of earning these awards. Being selected for a prestigious scholarship is the ultimate honor—an honor that takes diligence and strong mentorship to achieve. Fortunately, the University Honors Program and Northeastern University’s Office of Undergraduate Research & Fellowships  can provide that mentorship and support, beginning with your earliest days at Northeastern.

Investigate the opportunities that best suit your academic interests and professional aspirations and for which you are qualified, using the Office of Undergraduate Research & Fellowships website. Follow the URF’s recommendations about how to best position yourself to be competitive and to prepare a successful application. Attend URF preparatory workshops and take advantage of opportunities to meet personally with URF personnel. Meet with your Honors advisor to ensure you’re taking advantage of all that Honors offers to help you become a most attractive candidate.

Additional Support

The Office of Undergraduate Research & Fellowships (URF) offers numerous workshops, trainings, and online resources to help you explore research opportunities, formulate your ideas for an original research project or creative endeavor, find a faculty mentor, seek conference travel funds, and more. You can even apply for URF funding to take a professor to lunch to explore your mutual interests!
