The Explore Experience

Exploratory Events

Attend exploratory events during the semester, including our signature Meet the Majors Fair, Alumni Networking Dinner, and College Conversations, to begin asking questions and practicing your networking skills.

Meet the Majors Fair

The Explore Program Meet the Majors Fair is the kickoff to your exploration! Hosted at the start of each fall and spring semester, our Meet the Majors Fair brings together faculty, students, and advisors from every undergraduate academic department at Northeastern to share information about classes, co-ops and career paths in their majors. Begin crossing majors off your list and find more to start exploring!

College Conversations

After you attend our kickoff Meet the Majors Fair event, we know that you will have more questions. We make it easy for you to connect with representatives in majors through our College Conversations.

College Conversations allow you to meet with faculty, students, and advisors to ask questions in a casual, small group setting. Each College Conversation lasts about an hour and features 1-2 colleges, with a table for each academic discipline within the college. Move between tables to learn about many different majors, or stay at the same table for an in-depth exploration of that discipline.

Alumni Networking Dinner

If you are wondering what career pathways exist for different majors, and how Explore Program alumni discover these pathways after graduation, you are not alone.

Many new Explore Program students worry about whether their choice of major will lead to a “good” job, or that they won’t be able to choose a major if they aren’t sure what kinds of careers it might lead to. Our unique Alumni Networking Dinner event will help you begin to answer these questions and find reassurance that Explore Program students discover rewarding career paths when they graduate.

Started in 2015, the Alumni Networking Dinner is hosted each fall and spring. We welcome back Northeastern alumni who started in the Explore Program and graduated from Northeastern between 2008-2019. Causal, roundtable discussions allow you to practice your networking skills and ask questions with other Explore Program students, guided by your student leaders.

What do Explore Program students love about our events?

Marena Ramirez headshot

“The Meet the Majors Fair was the most influential event of my first semester because that is where I discovered the majors/minor that I would later declare: Media Arts, Communication Studies, and Business!”

“As a first-semester student, I was hungry to find as much information about as many majors as possible. I remember being so inspired by the students at the College Conversations and the passion they had for what they were studying! With the help of the Explore Program, I found my passion too.”

“The Alumni Networking Dinner was my favorite Explore Program event of the semester. Sometimes it’s hard to see a major beyond the classes. Talking with alumni and how they use the skills they learned at Northeastern in the real world was eye opening.”
