About

Sydney Mokel is an international affairs major whose passion for Mandarin was sparked by a 2015 Dialogue of Civilizations trip to China. Mokel took Mandarin classes at Northeastern, but her experience on the Dialogue with Professor Hua Dong inspired her to work with friends to create a Chinese Learning Table at Northeastern to create an opportunity to practice Mandarin outside of class.

With her Critical Language Scholarship, Mokel studied Mandarin in Changchun, a city in northeastern China.
